About

I.E. Weldon Secondary School (IEWSS) is situated on the traditional treaty lands of the Michi-Saagiig Anishinaabeg. This land has also been home to the Huron-Wendat, Mohawk and Metis Nation of Ontario. We honour their stewardship through the ages and strive to continue to strengthen relationships with our surrounding communities, as well as advocate for and protect the lands so they are here seven generations into the future.

Established in 1971, IEWSS is a vibrant hub of academic excellence, community engagement, extra curricular involvement, and personal growth. Since opening its doors IEWSS has been committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where every student can thrive and reach their full potential with the support of parents/guardians, staff and community.

IEWSS is named after prominent local lawyer Isaac Earnest Weldon, who left a generous donation to the Victoria County Board of Education. The school has continuously evolved to meet the changing needs of its students and community. Our school boasts dedicated educators who are passionate about inspiring and guiding students on their educational journey.

At IEWSS we believe in providing a comprehensive and well-rounded education that goes beyond the classroom. From a wide range of academic programs and extracurricular activities, to opportunities for leadership development and community service, we strive to empower students with the skills, knowledge, and values they need to succeed in an ever-changing world. Our International Baccalaureate Program provides interested Grade 11 and 12 students with the opportunity to study an international curriculum in six subject areas. In the Practical Academics and Life Skills Program, students are provided with many opportunities to develop physical, social and employability skills. Students who are interested in pursuing a career in the Skilled Trades can participate in the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program. Our Specialist High Skills Major programs include Agricultural Studies, Construction Technology, Information Communication Technology/Robotics, Manufacturing and Transportation Technology. Through these programs students can access additional opportunities for workplace certifications and College Dual Credit courses.

Whether it is through innovative teaching methods, collaborative projects, or experiential learning opportunities, we are dedicated to preparing students for the challenges and opportunities of the future. IEWSS values partnerships with parents, alumni, and local organizations and together, we work to create a supportive network that enriches the educational experience and fosters lifelong learning and connections.
