Hello Wildcats.
Tomorrow, Weldon students will begin to engage in remote learning, which is currently scheduled to run from January 4 – 22, 2021. This means that students will have live access to their teachers for 60 minutes of each 75 minute period of the day. This does not mean that there are live lessons for the full duration of this time, but Hello Wildcats.
Tomorrow, Weldon students will begin to engage in remote learning, which is currently scheduled to run from January 4 – 22, 2021. This means that students will have live access to their teachers for 60 minutes of each 75 minute period of the day. This does not mean that there are live lessons for the full duration of this time, but that there are opportunities for students to learn in whole groups, small groups and independently with teacher support. If your teacher hasn’t already shared their online learning schedule with you, they will be doing so tonight. We are much better prepared to deliver online learning than we were in March. To maximize your own learning, it would be expected that you would be attending all of these online sessions. Attendance will be taken. We are also working to complete the block 4 credit- this is different from the experience in the spring where credits were granted. Your Study Hall teachers will also host synchronous sessions for 60 minutes of each 75 minute study hall. Take advantage of the extra help being offered.
Based on our most recent technology survey results, all students should have a device to work from. If support is needed for technology, please contact myself or the appropriate vice-principal.
This change to remote learning is not ideal and I’m sure will present many unique challenges for students and staff. Please be patient with us as we navigate through this transition. Most importantly, please let us know if you need any support. Our student services worker Sarah Burgess is available, as are all of our guidance and administrative staff.
I will share new information as it becomes available.
All I can ask is that we all do our part to try to make this transition be as successful as it can be.
Sincerely,
Ray Este
Principal
