The following is the average score by subject area for Weldon’s 2008 examinations and the average score for students around the world in May 2008.  Each subject is marked on a 7 point scale with 7 being the highest.  A 5 represents a mark in the 80’s.  For HL subjects, a 5 qualifies for transfer credits at most universities.

Diplomas

In May 2008,   over 39 514 students earned the IB diploma worldwide.  Fourteen of these students were from I E Weldon.  One of Weldon’s students tied for 75th place in the world.

The top possible IB score for a diploma student is 45 points.  The minimum number of points needed to earn a diploma is 24 points.  Weldon totals ranged from 26 to 44.

There is no direct co-relation of IB total points to average percentage based on best six Ontario marks.  All fourteen students had an Ontario percentage above 85%.  Ten of the fourteen had an average above 90%.
