Social Sciences - Group Three (Diploma students must choose one, and may choose two.)GeographyHigher Level or Standard Level –CGW4UB and CGU4UB This course emphasizes the relationships between human society and the physical environment. In physical geography, there is a focus on climatic freshwater issues and conflicts, oceans and their coastal margins, extreme environments and hazards and disasters. The human geography portion of the course deals with topics such as populations in transition, disparities in wealth and development, environmental quality and sustainability, and resource consumption. As part of the IB Diploma, this course contributes to a well-rounded curriculum that is internationally recognized as an excellent university preparation program. Prerequisite: CHC2D (60% for IB Diploma students; 70% for IB Course students)Successful HL students may be eligible for university transfer credits. This pair of courses may be followed as part of a group of IB Courses (Package Option 1) or as an element of the full IB Diploma.
History of EuropeHigher Level – CHA3UB, CHI4UB, CHY4UB This two-year course meets and exceeds the expectations of its Ontario components. Emphasis is placed on critical analysis of historical sources throughout the study of 1848 to 1980. A major historical investigation paper is part of the final evaluation for this course. Skills that are acquired through a variety of assignments and activities make this course an excellent preparation for university. Successful HL students may be eligible for university transfer credits. Prerequisite: CHC2DR, CHC2DB, CHC2DI (60% for IB Diploma students; 70% for IB Course students) |
