This course specifically addresses the multi-faceted needs of beginning journalism students by introducing them to all phases of yearbook production.  Students will learn skills used in layout, design, photography, and publishing.  An integral part of this course will be the production of a school yearbook.  These class-based activities are envisaged as providing students with experience in the actual journalism concerns of interviewing, reporting, meeting deadlines, and producing a publication.

This course is suited to those students who have an interest and aptitude for Visual Arts, design, photography, or journalism.  The course is unique in that it produces the yearbook sold to students and staff.  Class members are expected to show a commitment to the process which calls for creativity, organizational skills, and a balance between independent work and a strong team effort.

GRADE 12

Grade 12 Women’s History               (University)                     IDC 4UR

This course examines human history through the eyes of women.  Traditional history has largely ignored the pivotal roles that women have played in making the world what it is today.  Key women, women’s movement, and women as a collective group will be studied from 10000 B.C. to 1500 A.D.  Particular focus will be on the women of Mesopotamia, Egypt, Crete, Greece, Rome, early Christian Europe, and the Medieval period.

Prerequisite: Any university or university/college preparation course
