Courses use a 6-character code for identification. The first 5 characters of the code are set out by the Ministry of Education. The 6th character is particular to a specific school.
Example: ENG 1DR
ENG - These 3 letters identify the subject. The first letter tells you the department area. A = Arts B = Business C = Canadian & World Studies E = English F = French G = Guidance & Career Education H = Humanities & Social Sciences I = Interdisciplinary Studies L = International Languages M = Mathematics P = Physical & Health Education S = Sciences T = Technology 1 - The number indicates the grade level. 1 = grade 9 2 = grade 10 3 = grade 11 4 = grade 12
D - This letter identifies the type of course. Grades 9 & 10 D = Academic P = Applied L = Locally Developed O = Open Grades 11 & 12 U = University Preparation C = College Preparation M = University/College Preparation E = Workplace Pathway O = Open
R - This school indicator distinguishes specific course characteristics. R = Regular Program I = French Immersion B = Power Pack & IB Program M = Male F = Fem |
