To the parents / guardians of all Grade 9 Mathematics students:
Your son / daughter is currently taking Grade 9 Mathematics, which means he /she will soon be writing the EQAO (Education Quality and Accountability Office) assessment, a province-wide test for mathematics. The test will be administered Tuesday, January 24th and Wednesday, January 25th during regularly scheduled Mathematics classes. The EQAO test is considered the culminating activity and will contribute to 10% of the final evaluation, as stated in the course outline.
Attendance on these days is mandatory. To help prepare for this final evaluation, students will have the opportunity to view past EQAO assessments and discuss them. The test is made up of two types of questions: multiple choice and open response. Additional information may be found at www.eqao.com. Go to Parents / Students, choose Grade 9 Math and then you will find the Examples of the Assessment and Scoring Materials.
To help prepare for his / her final evaluation, please remind your child to bring all necessary equipment: a scientific calculator, HB pencil(s), pen(s), an eraser, and a ruler. Extra help is always available at the student’s request.
Thank you very much for your attention to these matters.
